Review Of Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220vi Headphones

As you guys may know, Ultimate Ears are a well established company mainly specialising in professional audio products, but their current Consumer line is the MetroFi series that consists of the basic $50 MetroFi 170, a mic-equipped version called MetroFi 170vi ($60), and more-upmarket versions called the MetroFi 220 ($80) and mic-equipped MetroFi 220vi ($90) which I have here.

The 220Vi are noise isolating with voice capability and because of this, they are ideal for use as a headset for all you iPhone/Blackberry users but they will work will anything with a 3.5mm jack. Included with the Earphones are a pocket-sized, hard carry case and 3 sizes of silicone eartips (one of which is installed on the earphones). Considering the hefty price tag, I would expect maybe a few more accessories.

The Metro220vi are some of the best looking earphones available. The overall appearance of the MetroFi220vi is very clean and the chrome, gun metal coloured exterior looks great and this is a big selling point of the product.

The Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220vi have great sound quality and excellent noise cancellation and are way better than the standard apple earphones. Although the MetroFi 220vi aren’t the best sounding headset for under $100, they are definitely right up there with the best. The bass produced is excellent and the clarity of sound is also very good.

As I mentioned earlier, these earphones have an in-line microphone. The answer/play/pause button and the microphone itself are conveniently located to be and the quality of this whilst answering/making calls is excellent and even if you only use them more making voice memos or audio recordings, you will be more than satisfied with the built in mic.

So my conclusion. The Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220vi are one of the best earphones under $100. The fact that they also double as a headset is a great bonus too. The look amazing, they sound even better; and the price isn’t too steep. Based on my overall assessment, these earphones score 9/10
